Tough Days

So today started out as any other Tuesday, we get up we get ready and go to soccer. But that is where our normalcy ended.

Colin started out fine at soccer, but then in a game where he was trying to get Coach Matt, Coach Matt moved and Colin took a head dive into the wall. He cried, but seemed to be fine after Emma gave him a hug. He played a few games but then when it was time to scrimmage he wasn't fine anymore. Normally my sweet Colin is a ball hog at soccer always the kid out in front with the ball that everyone else is chasing, well not today. He just stood in one spot the whole time mouth open staring off at nothing. This was rather alarming, especially when even a drink of Mtn. Dew and a Starburst couldn't get him to play. So I called the doctor to get him in before class was even over.

Oddly on the way to the doctor's office he was able to tell me our phone number which he hasn't been able to do up to this time. We were able to get in to see the doctor and she said that he looked fine and was acting fine, but still had a small bit of concern since he was just staring off during class.

So it was off to the imaging lab for Colin to get a CT scan. I thought that he would be okay with it since it was like going through a big donut, but he wasn't happy about it. I stood and held his hand the entire time trying to keep him calm and still through his tears. He did good though, he was able to stay pretty still and we were in and out of the office in less than 15 minutes. We were told we should have the results in a couple of hours so that is where we are . . . waiting, just waiting for the doctor's office to call.

Colin and Emma are both taking naps now, so hopefully once Colin wakes up he will be back to himself and be ready to play!

Two hours and 15 minutes later . . . his scan is fine! He may have a headache (which he is complaining about) but otherwise he should be fine! Yay!! Hopefully next week will be better at soccer with less head trauma!

Kindergarten Round-Up

Colin got enrolled for kindergarten today. We had to work with him up till today to get him excited to go to this, he really wanted no part of it. But with the help of a new train set that only big boys that are getting ready to school can have (and share with their little sister) he was very excited to go.

Once we got there he was a little shy and took a little while to warm up to things, but once he got warmed up he did not want to leave! Emma was complaining that she was hungry and wanted to go (we went right around lunch time) but Colin did not care, he wanted to stay! Finally with the promise of a surprise he reluctantly decided that we could go.

Beenana Mushrooms

Sound yummy doesn't it!!! Rich made them with Colin and a little help from Emma once she got done eating her candy! Okay, so they are not really Beenana Mushrooms, they really made Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins. Colin was having a hard time saying banana he was saying "panana" instead so Rich was trying to tell him that it was a 'B' and Emma overheard this so she says beenana now! It is pretty cute, even if I do say so myself! And for some reason Colin kept calling them mushrooms instead of muffins, but I think we have that part straightened out now too!

Both kids had a blast helping Rich make the muffins, even though they won't touch them now that they are done! (The pictures look a little funny because Emma touched the lens on my camera with her sticky candy fingers and left a big smudge on it!)

Video Games

Colin and Emma both love to play video games with Rich. Today was no different!

Emma is still in love with her baby dolls and shopping cart as well! She is very proud of them and wants to show them off at every chance she gets!

Daddy vs. Rich

Rich is laying on the floor using his computer and Emma is laying on his back and this is the conversation that followed.

Emma: "I'm tired of calling you daddy."

Rich: "But that is my name."

Emma: "I love you Rich. I am thirsty Rich. I want more donuts Rich."

Rich: "My name is daddy, Emma."

Emma: "I know that daddy."

She had the biggest smile on her face through this as well!

Today started out cute and well, but after the above episode everything started to go down hill fast. We were not able to do anything fun for today because both Colin and Emma spent most of the day in time-out after taking all of the clothes out of Emma closet. I was more than a little upset about this.

Tomorrow will be a better day and maybe we can try the pretzels tomorrow.

Play-Doh

So Emma has never really been a fan of Play-Doh, but today something was different. Colin got Play-Doh for Christmas (from Emma) along with a whole toolbox full of tools and decorations to building anything a toddler could imagine out of Play-Doh. Well, they played with it for over 2 hours today before I told them it was time to stop and have lunch and take naps! They both had a really great time rolling it out and cutting it with the different tools (all plastic, nothing that is actually sharp) and try to make lots of different things out of it. There are even feet, arms, eyes, ears, noses, mouths and hats so that you can make your Play-Doh into a Mr. Potato Head type object, this was Colin's favorite.

Tomorrow I think we will have more Play-Doh time as well as we are going to try and make our own homemade soft pretzels!
