December 31, 2009
2009 was a great year! The kids have learned a lot and had lots of fun doing it. They learn more and more everyday. Each day their personalities develop even more! I can't wait to see what next year will bring for all of us!!

Building a snowman
Well, first you may notice that there are no pictures of a finished snowman in this post. That is because someone . . . Rich, decided to make a rather developed snowlady. The kids did have fun playing outside in the snow (Emma enjoyed it even if you can't tell from her face). Colin really liked throwing snowballs at Rich as well!

Little Monkey Bizness
We tried going to Little Monkey Bizness again on Tuesday, but there were soooooo many people. We stayed for about 30 minutes then Emma decided to try and hold her juice in her mouth like she learned from another little kid. She walked away from me with it in her mouth and then coughed, well it went everywhere and she was pretty upset, so that was the end of that! We headed home and she got to spend the rest of the day at home with daddy while I went to other stores. I hope that she learns from this that it is not a good idea to hold your drink in your mouth!

Snow, snow and more snow!
We got more snow overnight and were still getting snow throughout the day.
Dear Mother Nature,
Thank you very much for the White Christmas. Now that Christmas is over please have the snow just go away! Thanks so much!
Best regards,
The Edelman's
I wonder how long for all of the snow to melt. I know it is winter and all, but with snow comes colds and well, Colin, Emma and I all have one and we would like for it to go away!
Today was another day of playing with our new toys! Nana left around 1:30 or so to head home before the roads get covered with another layer of snow! She made it home safely to find that she had about 10" of snow that she needed to shovel just to get her car in the driveway and into the garage. I am thinking maybe she should have taken her little helpers with her since they like to shovel snow so well!

Merry Christmas
We were awoke at 7:30 AM this morning by Colin!! He came to my side of the bed and yelled "Merry Christmas"! Then he climbed in bed with me and cuddle up to me and asked "can we go open presents now"! It was so cute! Then Colin went to wake up Rich, who wasn't near as thrilled with the early wake up, but he was a trooper and got up anyway! Next Colin went into Emma's room to wake up Nana and Emma with the same warm greeting, "Merry Christmas"! Emma wasn't so sure about this wake-up call, but with her sleepy eyes she slowly got up and got woke up enough to know what was going on!
Once we got down stairs Colin ran right to his new Spiderman bike and Emma ran to her new scooter! Once they we convinced that they had other things they moved onto opening their stockings. Both got new toothbrushes and toothpastes in their stockings along with crayons, pencils, candy and a few small toys.

Next we moved on to more presents that were under the tree. From Santa Clause Colin got a new blanket with firetrucks on it, a new truck game, and Rocky the Robot Truck. Emma got a new blanket with polka-dots on it, a new shopping cart, and a RC Ladybug! Santa also brought both Colin and Emma a Sit-n-Spin to share and a train set to share.

Both kids got an abundance of toys and clothes, not to mention candy, and should be set for some time now! They had a great time playing with all of their new toys but were also excited to go out in the snow!

Yes, we had a very, very, VERY White Christmas this year! We had snow (of course depending on where you would measure) from 1" to 42" (in the middle of the biggest drifts)! On average we got between 7" and 8". The kids loved shoveling the snow. We had hoped to build a snowman, but the snow is a really dry snow so it wouldn't even hold for a good snowball. The other big challenge is since it is so dry it is not sticking and it is really blowing everywhere. We also have pretty heavy winds, so I hope that they will die down by morning so we can re-shovel the drive again.

Once we got the kids back inside the kids went back to playing with their toys and Nana! They had such a great time!

After we had lunch and the kids had their naps (which were much needed with all the excitement from the morning) they got to call Nana Judy and Pa Rick! Colin walked around the house with the phone on speakerphone showing all of his gifts to them! He just doesn't really remember that they can't see through the phone! He also talked to Uncle Alex, Uncle Zach and Aunt Vicki. Both Colin and Emma really loved talking to everyone!

Christmas Eve!
To much excitement for the kids today with the anticipation of Christmas, or they had way to much sugar. I'm not sure which but it was one of the two! It was hard to get them to go to bed with the excitement of Santa and that Nana was spending the night with us!
Poor Emma has a cold and a non-stop running nose so she is pretty whiny as well. She also took a tumble down the stairs today. I'm not sure what she was doing but she said, once she calmed down, that she slipped on the top step. All I saw was her doing a somersault down the stairs and then there was a big thud followed by her screams and cries. After calming down she seemed to be fine, but she just had a really difficult day!
Colin's day was a lot less eventful day compared to Emma's. He did get to go shopping with Rich this morning so that Rich could finish up his Christmas shopping (or start it depending on how you look at it).
They did get to open their Christmas Eve gifts tonight and were very excited about that!

Naughty List
Colin and Emma are walking around saying that they are on the naughty list! They are so cute! Yesterday they watched the Dora Christmas special where Swiper was on the naughty list for stealing things. So they are fascinated with the naughty list. Colin goes between being on it now and just saying that he was on it when he was a little baby! They are oh so excited for Christmas and Santa Clause to come they just can't wait!
We are spending the day today straightening up to make room for any new toys that they may or may not get from Santa! We were going to go donate some of our old toys, but they are having a really hard time with that. Colin only wants to donate Emma's toys and Emma only wants to donate Colin's toys . . . I think it might be a stand off between the two of them. I really think it will just come down to mommy going through their toys when they are gone and making the decisions myself. I just don't really see why we need the baby toys anymore, but for some reason they can't seem to let go. So It will just have to wait until they are out of the house!
We have a chance of snow coming so we will see if there is going to be a white Christmas or not! Colin would be so excited if it was so that he can shovel the snow again!

A Tuesday without soccer!
There was no soccer today for Colin as they are closed for Christmas break, so we had to find new ways to entertain ourselves. Emma decided that she wanted earrings and Colin didn't want to be out done by her!

After baths tonight Colin went and put on his Santa hat and was running around yelling "Merry Christmas"! I think he is ready and just a little excited!

Going to see Santa
Today was a busy day. Colin wasn't feeling very well, he has picked up a cold and has a sore throat, so Rich agreed to work from home to that I could run errands with Emma and not have to take Colin out. Colin was able to rest all day so that we could go see Santa Clause at Bass Pro after Rich was done with work. Boy was he excited once it was time to go! I could hardly get him to stand still so that we could get his coat on him so that we could go!!
There was a pretty long line, but the kids were pretty good. Since Rich went along with us he was able to take the kids to look at things while I waited so that we didn't loose our spot in line.

Colin couldn't wait to get to see Santa, Emma . . . well not so much. She started to get excited, but by the time we got up there it just wasn't going to happen. I ended up carrying her up to see him so that she could get her candy cane after Colin had happily ran up there and jumped on his lap!

There were no major meltdowns so that was good and they had a good time! Maybe next year Emma will want to sit on his lap, if not oh well! They had fun playing with the toys that were out and it was something we did together so that is all that really matters!
