Pool Party

I took the kids to my friend Lisa's house today for a pool party and to get Emma's new car seat. At first Colin didn't want to go because he didn't want to play with other kids he just wanted to stay home. He finally came around when I told him we could leave whenever he was ready.

They had a blast!! Colin is a little red now from being in the sun so much, guess I should have put more sunscreen on (and I feel so bad for the little guy), but Emma is still white as can be, she wouldn't leave my side for most of the time. So she sat in the shade with me. Emma finally warmed up to the idea of other kids towards the end, but then it was time to go.

Nope, she wasn't in the water she was running away from the other kids that were splashing.

We got a new car seat from Lisa for Emma and Emma just loves it! We will ask her if she likes her new car seat and she will nod her little head yes and say "pink". She almost squeals when she says it to, it is so cute!

Birthday Party at the Farm

Colin and Emma had their combined birthday party at the farm this weekend. They both had a great time and got some wonderful gifts. Thank you for all of the great gifts from everyone, they really do love them! Colin keeps saying he had a great time and he really loved his party so I am so happy that he had a good time! He and Emma both really love it when Jacob and Matt come up to play! Colin has already asked if we can do it again next year! We had a great lunch, the kids had hot dogs while the adults had sandwiches from Hy-Vee and they were all great! We got 2 small cakes for the kids even though they don't like cake at all and had cupcakes for everyone else.

Pool time

The kids played in the baby pool the other day, well Colin did anyway. Emma spent most of her time talking on her phone in her new jeep that she got. Emma finally got in the pool but wasn't near as thrilled with it as Colin was.

Family Night Out

Tonight we went out to the park down the street for a picnic put on by SureWest (our cable provider) and the kids had a great time even though it was super duper hot! They had two inflatable bouncy things set up, one was a big slide and the other was like a bouncy basketball thing. There were free squirt bottle and cozies as well as hamburgers and hot dogs. We were there about an hour before the kids just got to warm and we had to go. But it was a great time while we were there!

Hair cuts

My little man is growing up! Colin came up to me while I was still in bed today and said, "momma I want to get my hair cut today and I want to set in the little car". Okay, I know he is talking about Shear Madness, sigh, that means I have to take him. I much prefer when he goes with Pa in Maryville so I don't have to hear the screams and cries and see the tears. So I ask him are you sure you want me to take you or do you want Pa to take you. "No I want you to take me momma". So I get ready and call Shear Madness and see if they have any openings, they do at 9:30 and it is 9:18, so I ask if they are still over by Sprint, nope they have moved and are just up the street now. So I take the spot at 9:30, run to get Emma's shoes on her and Colin is hurrying to get his shoes on and out the door we go. We get there right on time, have just a minute to look at all of the toys for after the hair cut when Colin spots it . . . a brand new umbrella! And this one is red and yellow with flames and has a firetruck theme (at least I think it does, we still haven't opened it). That is what he wants when we are done, so we go back and he picks his car . . . the yellow Hummer, the lady that is going to cut his hair lifts him in (wow this is a good start, usually I have to do that) and he lets her put a robot cape on him! He wants to watch the Scobby Doo that is on the TV. He does whimper a little when she gets the clippers out, but all in all not bad this time! No screaming, no crying, not even a tear! He is growing up! And $57 later we are out of there! (You know for about $20 more mommy could have gotten her hair cut and colored!!)

Birthday Party

Nana and Pa came down this evening for a little birthday party for Colin. We had Colin's new favorite food, hamburgers! But before we could eat, heck before Nana, Pa and Emma could even make it in the door Colin was trying to open his gifts! He is so excited about opening gifts!

After opening his gifts in record time we had our dinner of hamburgers, steak, layered taco dip and salad. Once everyone was done it was time for cake. For the last 3 months Colin has wanted a firetruck cake, but when we went to order the cake on Friday . . . he saw a Spiderman cake and just had to have it! So we got him a Spiderman cake for his birthday (and yes, he still doesn't like cake so he didn't eat any of it!)

Colin was so tired after a long day today, but he held out and was good for as long as he could be! Emma even took some time before Nana and Pa left to count help Pa count her toes!

Birthdays

The kids birthdays are always so hard. I never really know what to get them, I just hope that they will like it. I thought Emma would love to have a jeep to drive around since Colin has a tractor so I have been looking for one. I finally found one and snatched it up for her when one of our neighbors had a yard sale. Since it is kind of big there was really no way that we could hide it from her so we gave it to her tonight. She will climb on it and walk around it but that is all! She really wants nothing to do with it, how disappointing. Colin on the other hand is having a blast driving it around the backyard. Maybe if I give her a little more time she will start to like it better.

First Movie

Today Rich and I took Colin to see his first movie at a theater. We took him to the Olathe AMC Studio 30 to see Up!

We took the movie in at the new Fork and Screen part of the theater. Colin had a chocolate milk shake (at 10 AM) while Rich and I each had a Coke and we all shared chicken strips, french fries and Sour Patch Kids. The Fork and Screen has really nice red reclining chairs to watch the movie from, the only issue we had with them was that Colin wasn't heavy enough to keep them down so it would keep folding up on him. Colin kind of liked this because he could balance well enough in them making it in to a rocking chair for him!

All in all Colin had a great time at the movie! He wants to go back, but the next time he wants to stay the whole day!

Potty Time

We are doing great with using the potty, except for of course our one time of using the backyard to do number 2. But we are back on track and now have an understanding that it is only okay to pee outside and only at the farm! Emma is even using the potty. She just wants to be just like her big brother so when he goes to the potty she wants to go too. She has even tried to pee standing up just like Colin does, didn't work quite as well for her, but I bet she will try it again!

Colin has decided that he lloovveess hamburgers so that will make Pa happy! I was surprised by him, he ate a whole hamburger for dinner last night and wants them again tonight, but "only with ketchup. I don't like mustard, I use to when I was a little boy but not anymore. Maybe I will like it again when I get big. I only want ketchup, no mustard, no pickles and no onions." Do you think maybe he only likes ketchup!

So the kids helped me go get Father's Day gifts for Rich today, lets see if they can keep it a secret from him. I purposely did not tell them the names of anything that we got for Rich, so that should help in them not being able to tell him what we got! Colin helped me wrap them this afternoon. Note for the future the wrapping paper from Target SUCKS! It is very thin! It is worse than that stuff you get sucked into buying from elementary school kids! But they did have a GIANT gift bag which did really help in wrapping one of the gifts! And this bag was really huge, you could fit a whole bike in there!

Colin played in the sprinkler today and loved it. Emma wasn't so sure about it she would run screaming and crying if it got her wet. But she liked being in her swimsuit! Colin wants a new swimsuit for his birthday, he wants a red one so I guess I will add that to his big loooooong list of wants!
