Potty Dance!

Yay! Colin went poop in the potty! He was acting all weird after his shower tonight and would not let me put his pull-up on him. He ran away saying he need to go pee. Okay whatever. Rich and I turned our attention back to Emma and getting her dressed and ready for bed. Then we hear Colin yelling from the bathroom that he pooped in the potty! And boy did he! He was so proud of it! He was happy to dump it in the big potty and flush it! Now he wants to spend the WHOLE day at the farm and get more train tracks! We are so proud of him though! I hope that he keeps up his renewed interest in the using the big boy potty even though he insist that he does not want to grow up.

New Shoes

Well, we have had them over a month now and today was the first day that we wore our new shoes! We had to take lunch over to Rich at work so thought it was a good day to wear them since we wouldn't be getting out of the truck for anything!

Colin loved his new shoes! Now he can put them on and take them off by himself (they are Velcro). He has decided that maybe it isn't so bad to let mommy pick his shoes out since the last pair that he picked had to be tied so he couldn't do it by himself!

Emma just adored her new shoes as well. They must be more comfortable than her old ones because she did not try and take them off once! Emma's still seem to be just a tad to big, but I think she will be fine with them. Hopefully the rain will stay away so that we can wear them when we go out later this week as well!

Rain rain go away

Rain rain go away come back some other day, preferably only at night when we are sleeping and be a light rain that dries by morning so that we can play outside!

Even with the rain we still found a way to play today. We went to the Great Mall and played at the children's attractions. Both Colin and Emma had a great time! Colin likes to get right in there and play where as Emma is a little more stand-offish. She will walk slowly to where the other kids are, but she just kind of stands there and watches them for the most part.

A great weekend with Nana and Pa

The kids are back home after a weekend at the farm with Nana and Pa. They even got to go to a horse and mule sale, I just hope that Pa didn't buy them anything!!! Nana didn't say that he did so I am hoping for the best! Once we got home the kids played in the backyard for a while. Both went to bed without any issues tonight. I just hope that they don't get woke up by the storms that we are having!

Quiet Time

Colin and Emma are off at Nana and Pa's for the weekend! How nice and quiet the house is! Colin did have his first tantrum today at Nana's house. He was heading to his room at Nana's house and I told him to leave the door open so that Emma could play with him and the toys too and he just flung himself to the floor right there in the hall and started screaming and crying. He did that for about 5 minutes before moving to his room and slamming the door. Well, I had told him to leave it open so I went down there and told him that if he didn't want to leave it open that was fine and I took all of the toys out of the room and shut the door behind me. I put the toys in Nana's room (good thing she was still at work!) and then told Colin when he was ready to tell me he was sorry he could come out. Well about half an hour later he came downstairs and told me he was sorry and it was like it never happened. But oh my gosh he screamed and cried that whole time! Emma just kept looking at me saying "he crying" which really sounds like "he dying" when she says it but I knew what she was talking about! I hope that was the last of his tantrums though because that will not be acceptable!!

Surprise Rain

We had a surprise rain storm over night so we were not able to go to the park today. But we were able to go do some shopping and we got a new garden cart to help with the gardening in the backyard. After Rich got up today (he is still working nights) he put it together and the kids helped pick things up with it.



I have also discovered much to my dismay that Emma loves pony's, every toy that she has she tries to ride like it is her stick pony! I only hope that she doesn't ask Pa for one. Good thing the only word she says is puppy!

Kids say the darnedest things!

Quote of the day from Colin, "Momma, I don't want to grow up" sniff sniff "I want to stay a little boy." I ask why he wants to stay a little boy and his reply is . . . "cause I don't want to be hairy!" I laughed so hard the poor little guy! His main concern about growing up is getting hairy!

The kids had a great time today! We did a little shopping and then came home and played in the backyard. Then after a quick change into shorts we walked to the park and played for about an hour or so and blew bubbles, one of their favorite things!

But then Emma got to hot and we had to walk back home. Poor little Colin was doing his best to keep up, but he wanted to walk slow and that wasn't working out so well for Emma who had just played to hard and gotten to warm! But we made it home and she cooled off and went for a nap. And Colin had a good nap as well! They were both so wore out! It made for great quiet time!
After Rich woke up (he is working nights this week) we had dinner and went outside to play some more and do some work in the backyard. Colin helped to carry rocks while Emma made sure that the slide didn't move on us! Tomorrow is supposed to be another great day to play outside!
Colin was also very helpful today! He made the big bed in Emma's room all by himself as well as his bed! I was am so proud! He is such a good helper!

Another great day to be outside!

Colin and Emma love to swing! It is now getting really hard to get Emma out of the swing! Once we get her in it she throws a fit if we try and get her out!! Today she was also doing really well with the big kid swing!


Both kids had a great time playing outside today! Hope that we can do it again tomorrow!

Yay the trike is here!

Finally Toys 'R Us received the correct trike!!! So now Emma has the trike that she can put her puppy in the front basket to take a long for rides!


Today we had a busy day shopping any playing outside! Colin even picked out a new puppy for Emma at Build-A-Bear and she loves it! Tomorrow is supposed to be nice as well so we will play outside again tomorrow. Both kids just love to swing so we will be doing more of that tomorrow as well.

We also got Uncle Alex's new address today, thank you Nana Judy, so we will be gathering a few things for him. I will not be waiting for Rich to get this package ready so I plan to have it send out by Friday!

Trikes

Colin has mastered the trike or dirty bike as he calls it (my trike from when I was little) at Nana's house he can pedal like its nothing! So now it is on to working on the bike that we have for him. Emma also did really good on the smaller trike that is over at Nana's she will keep her feet on the pedals as you push her around.

Emma is doing so good at pointing different body parts! We have moved on from the normal body parts to shoulders, chin, neck and heart. She is doing really good with them.

Both kids have been working on ABC's and 123's, we now have a refrigerator covered with magnets for them to play with and put in order, but there is only 1 of each letter and number so no bad words from Rich!!

I hope that it dries out tomorrow so that we can play outside again!

Nana has a new helper for garage sales

My mom has to be so proud! She has a new helper for garage sales. I have never been one to really enjoy going to garage sales, I mean I have enough stuff why do I want someone else's? But sometimes my mom finds something really good! So today she took Colin with her and apparently he would go up to the people having the sale and ask them "do you have anything on sale?" So cute! I guess I have talked about looking for what is on sale to much! At least he will be a good shopper when he gets older!

Emma spent the day with Rich and I, she played on her trike and everything else in the house! Rich dressed her in a cute little sun dress today but every time I would look at her she would have it half off! She is getting really good at getting herself dressed and undressed! She is growing up so much each day, it is really hard to believe!

Another nice day

We had another nice day today! The kids and I ran a few errands and then it was off to Liberty so Colin could stay with Nana for the weekend. Emma still isn't quite herself she is still sleeping a lot more then normal. I think maybe she is getting another tooth in as much as she has been sleeping lately. Both kids enjoyed playing in the backyard at Nana's before Emma and I headed home. She finally went to sleep to night after just wanting to cuddle so I hope that she sleeps well and gets the rest that she needs!

Sleep and quiet

Colin has been so good today at being quiet and picking up toys, I am so proud of him. Emma has been sleeping a lot, she is finally starting to get better so that is good! When we go outside to play she runs right for the swing and just wants to be in it the whole time! I think she would fall asleep in there if she had a pillow! Colin loved chasing bubbles today, playing tag and kicking the ball around the yard! I hope that the weather stays nice so that we can continue to play outside everyday!

Trikes can be troubling but big brothers can be soothing

Emma had lots of fun playing on her trike today, but she is a little unsteady on it at times. But luckily her big brother was there to soothe her. She fell off and pumped her head, but Colin was there to try and make her feel better afterward and tell her that it was okay! It was so cute, I am so thankful that they do play together so well.

Gardening day

We had time to color today and make nice pictures to send out. Colin is getting really good at making smiley faces and spiders. Emma is starting to get the hang of the crayons, well at least she has stopped trying to eat them now.


Emma was also feeling well enough today that we went outside and did a little gardening.

The day after Easter

The car is still a hit with Colin, so I am thinking that the Easter Bunny did very well with it!!! Finally a gift that last longer than a day!

Poor Emma is still sick today and was bad enough that she had to go to the doctor. But all I really found out from that is that they have my $25, she does not have strep throat and she needs to drink more fluids. Um duh, if she was drinking more fluids I wouldn't have brought her in! One of my main concerns was that she wasn't drinking enough, so thanks for confirming that! But by the end of the day she seems to be feeling better so lets home that she still feels good in the morning!

In light of Emma not drinking enough I stopped and got popsicles on the way home and although she wasn't so thrilled with them Colin was totally in love with them! You would think it was Christmas morning as excited as he was when he saw that I had got some!!!

Easter

Well, after a difficult night of Emma having a fever of 103.5, she seems to be feeling better today. She still has a fever, but not near as bad as it was! So she was able to enjoy her Easter gift, a new trike. I only wish the weather would have been nicer so that she could have played with it outside.



Colin spent the weekend with Nana and Pa at the farm, but guess what . . .the Easter Bunny found him there too!! The Bunny at the farm left him more Thomas Train Tracks and when he got home he had a new remote control car! He just loved the new car!!!

Poor Emma

She just can't get over whatever it is that she has. Today I think she was running a fever but that didn't stop her from playing outside with her new swing. Rich and I picked up things in the backyard while Emma played. She took several naps today so I hope that she will feel better tomorrow for the Easter Bunny. We did call Colin at the farm with Nana and Pa and he was having a good time so can't wait to see him tomorrow!

Soda and Sippy Cups

Lets just say I already know that soda in the sippy cups doesn't really work, but it is the treat that I let Colin and Emma enjoy on the way to . . . well when we are out and have McDonald's for lunch. Most of the time it works okay, a little spill, but nothing major. But not today!! Little Miss Emma decided that she wanted to put her cup beside her in the car seat, upside down! We didn't even make it 2 blocks to Borders to get our Easter books and her pants and car seat were soaked! So I had to change her in the front seat of the truck before we could go into Borders. No easy task with an almost 2 year old that really doesn't want to be doing this! But we finally finished and were off to Borders.

Emma rides in the stroller as normal and Colin helps push the stroller until we get inside then he is off to touch and feel eerything that he can get near before I have him come back over to Emma and I, but boy is he fast! We make our way back to the children's section and make our selection of Easter books but not before Colin finds the Max and Ruby stuffed bunnies that he just HAS to have! So we add them to our bag and then . . . "mommy we have to get Nanny a new book cause she is out". So I let Colin pick out a new book for Nana, hope she likes it cause you know he picked it off of the cover picture. (Nana be thankful I told him I didn't think you would like the one with the monster fighting on the cover!)


So we finally make it to Nana's the kids have their new books and toys and I have a chance to wash Emma's pants (encase she has another "accident" before we get home today). Nana got off work early today came and picked Colin up with lightning speed and they were off. Emma had a few wimpers, but happly took a nap on the way home in rush hour traffic!

Why is bed time always playtime?

We try and have quiet time after our bath each night before we go to bed, but for some reason it never seems to work. I wonder why that is? This is Rich getting the kids ready for bed.
