Colin's New Room

So Colin was getting tired of his room that way it was, my first clue was that he and Emma started pealing the boarder down! So Rich and I spent Labor Day Weekend repainting his room. Colin really really wanted his room to be painted red, but I just couldn't do that. For those of you that have seen his room know how small it is, I really just don't think that red will work in that room. So he got to pick between blue or green for his room. He chose blue, I know what you are thinking blue isn't much better than red but we did not paint the whole room blue! We did go with a nice dark shade of blue on 1 wall and the other 3 walls are a stone color. It turned out really nice and we chose to make the blue wall the one behind the door so that if you are just walking down the hall you would never know that the wall was blue.

We also put Colin's bed against that wall (per his request) so that when he bumps into the wall at night it won't wake sissy up!

His room turned out very well and the most important thing is he loves it!

Making Mints

Who knew that Colin would be so into helping me make cream cheese mints for my friend Michelle T. I really thought that he would just ignore what I was doing and watch TV in the front room, but nope he was much more interested in watching me make the mints and then trying to help make them. I let him help me make a few, I would roll the dough into a ball and put it into the bowl of sugar where Colin would roll it in sugar and then put it into the mold for me. Next we would push the ball into the mold and then turn it out onto a piece of wax paper. He thought this was just the greatest thing ever! He was a great helper until I caught him licking his fingers in between rolling each ball in the sugar! That was enough help from him for the night! He did find that I had cowboy molds so we are planning to make some mints for him later on that he can do all by himself!

Bedtime

Emma is doing well with her toddler bed, but we are having issues with her sippy cup at night. When she stays with Nana and Pa for the weekend they put her down for bed without a sippy cup, but for some strange reason that just will not work for us. Emma had been having apple juice before bedtime, but I really didn't want her to have juice over night so I had Rich fill her cup with water. She was fine with the cup until she tried to take a drink then she screamed and cried "APPLE JUICE" at the top of her lungs until we gave her a cup with apple juice in it. Then she didn't even want to drink it when we gave it to her, she just wanted it next to her in bed. Sometimes she is such a little stinker! The next morning she hadn't even drank any of it!!! But I still love her!

Emma's Toddler Bed

So Emma was starting to try and climb in her crib when it was time for naps and bed time (but never out of it) so we started thinking that maybe it was time to try changing it over to a toddler bed again. Our first attempt at this didn't go very well and Rich had to make it back into a crib before she would go to bed for the night. But this time I had a new plan.

Nana was coming over to spend the night since the kids were not going with her for the weekend, and Colin had invited her down. She would be sleeping in Emma's room in the spare bed so I thought that Emma would like this and stay in her toddler bed for the night. Well, that isn't quite how it went down. For that night Nana slept with Colin in the spare bed in Emma's room, Rich slept in Colin's bed and Emma slept with me in my bed!

Day 2 worked out better though, Emma took her nap in the toddler bed, she was a little upset that there was a part missing (where the crib front use to be) but I put a pillow there and she was just fine! She slept in there for her nap!!! Yay!!!

So we are going on a week now since we changed her over to the toddler bed and she is loving it!! She still won't get out of bed when she wakes up, she lays there and either cries or yells until someone comes to get her, but we are working on that. Rich and I were so hoping that she would be a little more like Colin and just come into our room in the mornings when she wakes up, but she just isn't ready for that yet. She is also different in the fact that she will not sleep if her door is not shut and it has to be shut all of the way! Unfortunately she has the room with the door that sticks, so it doesn't make it very easy for her!

But I love how she gets in bed all by herself now! She even tries to make her bed every morning and after her naps!

Colin is the sweetest little boy

I have to say that Colin really is the sweetest little boy! Whenever I am not feeling good or even if I am just in different room than he is he will com and check on me every 15 minutes or so.

"Are you doing okay, do you need anything?"

He is just the greatest little boy ever! I couldn't ask for a better kid!

Jake's Birthday

Colin and Emma had a great time at Jake's 1st birthday party! It was at Monkey Bizness, which if you have never been there you should try it (at least if you have small children) it is great! They have several different inflatable bounce houses and slides and such that are indoors!! Both kids had a blast. Rich and Colin tried climbing the rock wall and they were racing through the obstacle course (Colin won)! They had a small play area for kids under 3 that Emma just loved! Rich even took Emma down the big slides a couple of times! We had the best time! I think both kids want to go back when they can play longer!

Tree Hugger

Colin takes after his mommy and loves to hug the trees in the yard. He just ran up to the tree and said "I love you tree" and gave it a big hug!
